CITI leads India-Swiss textile collaboration at Techtextil 2024
The Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) led a delegation of CEOs to Techtextil 2024, a major trade fair for technical textiles in Germany. This follows the signing of a Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) between India and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), which includes Switzerland. CITI aims to leverage TEPA by promoting business partnerships between Indian and Swiss textile companies. The delegation, led by S K Sundararaman, actively connected with Swiss textile firms and associations during the event.
A B2B meeting arranged for CITI members offered a platform for exploring technical textiles, nonwovens, and textile technologies. This facilitated discussions, knowledge exchange, and potential partnerships.
Additionally, a tour of the Swiss Textiles booth provided insights into the latest industry advancements. This fostered networking and knowledge sharing among leaders from both nations.
The CITI delegation marks the beginning of a series of programs designed to strengthen the partnership between CITI and Swiss Textiles. This partnership was formalized in November 2023 through a Joint Declaration, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing the textile sector.
Dinesh Nolkha, a CITI vice chairman, played a key role in outlining plans for deeper engagement with Swiss textile companies. CITI's participation in Techtextil underlines their dedication to using international platforms to drive innovation, collaboration, and growth within the global textile industry.
