Cotton arrivals in Pakistan dropped

Pakistan’s cotton arrivals have reduced significantly by 59 per cent to 2.04 million bales as of September 30, 2024. This marks a sharp decline from the 5.025 million bales recorded during the same period last year, according to data compiled by brokerage house Arif Habib Limited (AHL).

The breakdown reveals Sindh province, a key cotton producer, witnessed a 56 per cent decrease in arrivals, reaching 1.31 million bales. Similarly, Punjab province experienced a more drastic decline of 65 per cent, with arrivals falling to 727,000 bales.

Pakistan, renowned as one of the world's top ten cotton-producing nations, heavily relies on cotton and textile products for its exports. However, the current output falls short of expectations, raising concerns about the future of this vital industry.
