CottonConnect to launch Kasturi Cotton pilot project in India

CottonConnect, a UK-based social enterprise focused on sustainable textile supply chains, is set to launch a pilot project on Kasturi Cotton in Gujarat or Maharashtra. The company is also exploring opportunities with Suvin cotton in southern India, CEO Alison Ward said.
During Bharat Tex 2025, CottonConnect executives met Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh to discuss pilot projects for Kasturi Cotton in collaboration with the Cotton Corporation of India. Kasturi Cotton, a government initiative, ensures premium quality with 100 percent traceability. CottonConnect has signed an MoU with the Indian government and has trained over 150 ginners on its quality standards.
Ward emphasized India's potential to position Kasturi Cotton as a global brand. Meanwhile, the company is receiving inquiries about Suvin cotton, a premium variety known for its fine quality.
CottonConnect’s TraceBale platform tracks cotton from farm to brand, with over 5.8 lakh farmers registered. The company is also promoting regenerative farming, training 25,000 farmers to reduce pesticide and water use. With growing interest in sustainable textiles, CottonConnect aims to strengthen India's position in the global cotton market.
