The Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) hosted the Textile Conclave 2025 on March 8 in Ahmedabad, bringing together industry leaders to discuss cotton productivity and the growing potential of technical textiles. Saurin Parikh, Head, GCCI Textile Task Force, highlighted the crucial role of technical textiles in fashion, construction, healthcare, and agriculture. He stressed the need for innovation, collaboration, and policy support to unlock the sector’s full potential.

GCCI president Sandeep Engineer emphasized the conclave provides a platform to address key challenges and opportunities in the textile industry. Experts underscored the importance of research and development in technical textiles to create high-performance materials. They also pointed to the role of government policies and industry partnerships in driving growth.

The event also spotlighted the Central government’s mission to boost cotton productivity, aiming to raise India’s cotton yield from 461 kg/ha to the global average of 850 kg/ha over five years. The initiative focuses on promoting extra-long staple cotton varieties and improving seed quality. The conclave saw participation from top executives across spinning, weaving, processing, apparel, and textile machinery manufacturing sectors.
