The global market for woven fabrics of cotton has seen steady growth due to rising demand. In 2024, global consumption reached 15 billion sq. mt. up 1.8 per cent from the previous year, continuing a trend of moderate annual growth (+1.2 per cent since 2013). However, market growth is expected to decelerate over the next decade, with an estimated CAGR of +0.2 per cent from 2024 to 2035, reaching 15 billion sq. mt. by 2035. In terms of value, the market is projected to grow at a CAGR of +1.2 per cent, reaching $122.1 billion by 2035.

China remains the largest consumer of cotton fabrics, accounting for nearly 29 per cent of global consumption in 2024, followed by the US and India. On the production side, China dominates, producing 58 per cent of the world’s cotton fabrics, with a notable annual growth rate of +7.8 per cent since 2013.

In the export market, China continues to lead, accounting for 80 per cent of global exports in 2024. Meanwhile, global import levels saw a slight decline, with Bangladesh, the US, and Italy being the top importers.

Despite some fluctuations, the global cotton fabric market is expected to maintain steady growth in both volume and value over the next decade.
