The Indian government is intensifying efforts to bolster the country’s textile and handicraft sectors. Schemes aimed at supporting weavers, artisans, and the overall value chain are being implemented. Financial assistance is being provided for raw materials, equipment upgrades, marketing, and skill development under programs like the National Handloom Development Programme and the National Handicrafts Development Programme.

Additionally, the government is focusing on export promotion through initiatives such as the RoSCTL and RoDTEP schemes, which offer tax rebates to exporters. To showcase India’s textile prowess, the government organized Bharat Tex 2024, a mega event highlighting the entire textile value chain. While specific export targets are not set due to market complexities, the government is closely monitoring performance and taking steps to enhance competitiveness in the global market.
