Gujarat rains delay cotton shipments to Indore, disrupt supply chain.
Heavy rainfall in Gujarat has severely impacted the textile supply chain, especially affecting cotton shipments. The heavy downpour has disrupted logistics, causing delays of up to two days for commercial vehicle transit between Gujarat and Indore. This has led to significant setbacks in the delivery of cotton fabrics and machinery components essential for Indore’s vibrant garment industry.
Key trade hubs such as Vadodara and Ahmedabad have experienced hindrances in movement of goods, including raw cotton and finished fabrics. Indore, reliant on textile supplies from Ahmedabad and Surat, is facing delays in receiving cotton materials.
Cotton fabric dispatches from Gujarat have been delayed by three to four days. However, local markets remain unaffected due to the availability of alternative sources. Transporters report that while there are delays, there is no complete halt in vehicle movement, and deliveries continue despite the prolonged transit times.
