The International Cotton Advisory Committee’s (ICAC) has successfully worked towards improving cotton instrument testing worldwide. The Committee for Commercial Standardization of Instrument Testing of Cotton (CSITC) recently concluded its fourth and final Round Trial for 2024, with a record-breaking 173 instruments from participating 72 testing facilities.

The increasing participation underscores growing value of these trials, which provide detailed, confidential feedback to each facility, helping them enhance their testing accuracy. While no pass/fail grades are assigned, the trials offer valuable insights into performance deviations, enabling continuous improvement.

To strengthen its impact, the CSITC has undertaken several key initiatives, including the formation of an executive committee, a refreshed logo, and a new brochure outlining its activities and benefits.

The committee is also actively expanding its membership, with recent additions from Brazil, India, Pakistan, and Turkiye. By increasing outreach to instrument manufacturers and spinning mills, the CSITC aims to further enhance the quality and reliability of cotton testing globally.
