India’s cotton yarn exports rise despite China slump.
India's cotton yarn exports grew 14.5 per cent year-on-year in April, reaching 87,637 tons. However, exports dipped 16.2 per cent compared to March. Bangladesh remained the top destination, with 43 per cent market share, up from 37 per cent in March. Portugal and Vietnam followed closely with 7 per cent and 6 per cent shares respectively.

China, previously the second-largest importer, saw a dramatic decline, dropping to fourth place with a 5 per cent market share. Exports to China plunged 51.4 per cent year-on-year and a staggering 59.7 per cent month-on-month. Colombia witnessed the highest year-on-year surge (140 per cent), while Sri Lanka led the month-on-month increase (19.5 per cent).
Across four major yarn varieties, exports to China fell both year-on-year and month-on-month. Carded single yarn 8-25s dominated shipments to China, accounting for 58 per cent of the total. This variety also experienced the sharpest month-on-month decline.
