India to showcase cotton prowess at Yarn Expo Autumn in Shanghai
Cotton, the reigning champion of natural fibers, will take center stage at Yarn Expo Autumn, scheduled for August 27-29 in Shanghai. Renowned for its absorbency, strength, softness, and color retention, cotton continues to dominate the textile industry.
India, a leading cotton producer, is set to make a significant impact at the event. Over 40 Indian exhibitors will showcase their diverse range of cotton, melange, greige, and fancy yarns under the India Pavilion, organized by the Cotton Textile Export Promotion Council (Texprocil). This marks the largest Indian contingent in a decade, highlighting the country's growing prominence in the global textile market.
The Asia-Pacific region, particularly China, is a key focus for Indian textile exporters. Murali Balakrishna, Joint Director, Texprocil, underlines the importance of Yarn Expo as a platform for connecting with Chinese buyers, known for their demand for high-quality, yet cost-effective cotton yarn.
The fair will feature over 200 cotton suppliers from around the world, including key players like Heng Feng (Hong Kong), PT. Indo-Rama Synthetics Tbk (Indonesia), and Square Textiles PLC (Bangladesh). This global showcase underscores the enduring appeal of cotton across various industries.
Cotton was among the top two most sought-after products at both Yarn Expo Autumn 2023 and Yarn Expo Spring 2024. The upcoming edition promises to be another successful platform for sourcing the latest cotton innovations and connecting with industry leaders.
Yarn Expo Autumn is co-located with Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition, CHIC, and PH Value, creating a comprehensive marketplace for the entire textile and apparel supply chain.
