Invista doubles nylon production in Shanghai

Invista Nylon Chemicals (China) announced the successful completion of nylon 6,6 polymer plant expansion at the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park (SCIP). The $240 million project doubled annual production capacity to 400,000 tons, solidifying Shanghai as a global nylon production hub.

This expansion reinforces Invista’s commitment to meeting growing demand for high-performance nylon products in China and worldwide. The increased capacity will support growth in automotive, electronics, apparel, and industrial applications.

Invista’s state-of-the-art facility utilizes an environmentally friendly aqueous solution process for nylon production, improving efficiency and reducing environmental impact. The company also emphasized a strong safety record during construction, achieving five million safe working hours without incident. The expansion underscores China’s growing importance in the global nylon market and Invista’s role in driving innovation and sustainable production.
