Iraq ranks fourth in Arab world cotton production.

Iraq emerged as the fourth-largest cotton producer in the Arab world in 2023, according to the US Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service. China remains the world leader, producing a quarter of the global total in 2023-2024.

Asia dominates cotton consumption, buying over two-thirds to fuel its textile industries. Among Arab nations, Sudan, Egypt, and Syria hold the top three spots with production volumes exceeding Iraq's 15,000 bales. Yemen rounds out the list at number five with 8,000 bales.

China remains a powerhouse not only in production but also in exports, with a staggering $13.3 billion, followed by the US at $10.7 billion. This highlights China's significant role in the global textile market.
