K M Knitwear, part of the Rs.1000 crore K M Group, has grown into a top ten exporter from Tirupur, spanning fiber-to-fashion manufacturing. Led by founder K M Subramanian and Joint MD Vishnuprabu, the group started with fewer than 50 machines and has evolved into a fully integrated enterprise. A key step was vertical integration in spinning, knitting, and processing in the early 2000s, propelling their global competitiveness.

Today, the company exports a wide range of knitted garments across 15 countries, with annual exports at Rs 500 crore. The group’s infrastructure includes 6,500 sewing machines and 72,000 spindles, producing 40 lakh garments monthly, supported by sustainable practices.

Solar and wind power, covering 80 per cent of energy needs, and green certifications highlight their commitment to eco-friendly operations. The company has achieved certifications like GOTS, BCI, and OEKO-TEX for sustainable production.

K M Knitwear’s automation initiatives under Industry 4.0 enhance efficiency and traceability. Innovations include automated cutting and bar-coded tracking, alongside ERP monitoring. Looking forward, the group aims for Rs.1200 crore in turnover by FY 2026, with a strong focus on ESG compliance to drive growth and long-term success.
