Kyrgyzstan's cotton exports to China increases 19-fold in 2024.
In the first seven months of 2024, Kyrgyzstan’s cotton exports to China rose dramatically, according to the General Customs Administration of China. The volume of cotton exported reached 3,100 tons, marking a 19-fold increase compared to the same period in the previous year. In monetary terms, these exports saw a 12.1-fold rise, totaling $5.4 million.
Kyrgyzstan shipped cotton to China primarily in January, February, and April. This significant growth highlights the strengthening trade relationship between the two countries and reflects the increasing demand for cotton in China.
The spike in exports could be attributed to improved trade agreements, favorable market conditions, or a strong harvest in Kyrgyzstan. This trend underscores the importance of the agricultural sector in Kyrgyzstan’s economy and its role in meeting China's industrial needs.
This robust growth in cotton trade not only boosts Kyrgyzstan’s export earnings but also positions the country as a key player in the regional cotton market, with China emerging as a major trading partner.
