Lenzing leads charge on sustainable textiles
Lenzing Group is spearheading a €6.9 million EU-funded project to revolutionize the textile industry. Partnering with the RTDS Group and 13 other organizations, the Cellfil project aims to scale up production of eco-friendly lyocell filaments.

By optimizing the entire textile production process, from raw material to finished product, the project seeks to replace polluting synthetic fibers with sustainable lyocell. This shift will not only reduce the industry’s environmental impact but also pave the way for a circular economy where textiles can be easily recycled.
Lenzing, a global leader in regenerated cellulose fibers, is bringing its expertise to the project, focusing on developing robust and scalable lyocell filament production. The company believes this initiative is crucial in addressing the textile industry’s heavy reliance on fossil-based materials.
With support from the EU’s Horizon Europe program, Cellfil is part of a broader push towards a more sustainable textile future.
