Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy has urged the Union textiles ministry to establish a handloom cluster in Paturu village, renowned for its lightweight silk saris. The village is situated in the Kovur assembly constituency. Reddy submitted a formal request to textiles minister Giriraj Singh, emphasizing the need to develop the cluster under the Small Cluster Development Program (SCDP).

Reddy highlighted that the State Handloom and Textiles Commissioner had already proposed five clusters, including Paturu, under the National Handloom Development Program (NHDP). He stressed that the initiative would significantly benefit 500 weaver families in Paturu, who rely on handloom weaving for their livelihood. Singh assured the MP that the proposal would be reviewed and responded to positively, signaling support for the development efforts.
