New Zealand Wool has reinforced its presence in India’s Rs 12,444 crore ($1.435 billion) wool market with a strong show at the just concluded Bharat Tex 2025. The consortium of leading wool producers engaged with key industry stakeholders, highlighting its commitment to sustainability and high-quality wool.
Andy Caughey, Head, Wool Impact highlighted New Zealand Wool’s collaboration with retailers, designers, and manufacturers, backed by government initiatives to globalize the sector. Natalie Norman, Head, Sales & Success, New Zealand Merino Company Limited, noted India’s growing demand, surpassing China as the largest importer of New Zealand Merino wool.
The showcase attracted significant interest due to the wool’s breathability, ultrafine softness, and eco-friendly benefits. Coarser varieties cater to carpets and strong wool applications, while the New Zealand Farm Assurance Program and ZQ certification ensure high sustainability and animal welfare standards.
