Nilit unveils major sustainability gains
Nilit, known for its sustainable Nylon 6.6 fibers, has published its 2022-2023 Impact Report, showcasing substantial advancements in textile sustainability.
Nilit General Manager Ilan Melamed emphasiaes the urgency of taking swift action, highlighting the company's commitment to accelerating sustainable practices. The report outlines efforts to enhance the life cycle of products, emphasising circularity from production to end-of-life.
Key achievements include a 46 per cent reduction in energy consumption, a 12 per cent drop in natural gas use, an 11 per cent decrease in water withdrawal, and a 27 per cent cut in GHG emissions compared to 2017. The Sensil portfolio promotes environmental sustainability by increasing recycled content and reducing resource consumption.
A notable innovation is Sensil Flow, designed to improve fabric and apparel recycling. This initiative features mono-component performance fabrics with inherent stretch, facilitating easier recycling. Nilit is also forming partnerships with fabric and apparel recyclers to enhance waste capture, reprocessing, and reuse.
