Pakistan to import three million bales of cotton from Kyrgyzstan
Pakistan is eyeing Kyrgyzstan as a potential source of cotton to address domestic shortfall. Ambassador Hasan Zaigham announced plans to import three million bales of cotton, valued at $1.9 billion, from Kyrgyzstan this year. This gives an opportunity to Kyrgyz exporters, as the country's annual cotton production exceeded 600,000 tons. Zaigham highlighted Kyrgyzstan's impressive economic growth of 9.2 per cent this year, emphasizing the potential for further economic cooperation.
To boost bilateral trade, both countries are planning to organize regular business delegations and participate in trade fairs. Currently, the volume of trade between the two nations falls short of its potential due to a lack of information about business opportunities.

To bridge this gap, a Kyrgyzstan-Pakistan Business Forum was held in Bishkek. The forum, organized by the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kyrgyzstan Trade House Lahore, and the Pakistani Embassy in Bishkek, brought together a 14-member Pakistani business delegation representing various sectors including pharmaceuticals, textiles, steel, agro-food, logistics, and tourism.
