PM MITRA Park in Dhar to attract Rs 10,000 cr investment, create 1 lakh jobs

Union textile minister Giriraj Singh announced the upcoming PM MITRA Park in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, is set to attract an investment of over Rs 10,000 crore and generate at least 1 lakh employment opportunities. Singh highlighted the government's vision to position India as a global textile hub, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of making the country self-reliant.

The park, one of seven PM MITRA textile parks nationwide, will spread over 1,563 acres in Bhainsola village, Dhar district. The Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) has been appointed as its master developer. Singh emphasized the park's role in bolstering the textile sector, a key contributor to India’s economic growth.

The Centre has allocated Rs 4,445 crore for the establishment of textile parks across Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Gujarat, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh over a seven-year period.

Singh also noted that India’s textile exports rose by 11 per cent and garment exports by 35 per cent in October-November 2024 compared to the same period last year. He attributed this growth to enhanced domestic capacities, especially amid the political crisis in Bangladesh, which has impacted its textile industry.
