RJD MP demands allocation of PM-MITRA park to Bihar
RJD MP Sudhakar Singh, representing Buxar has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to allocate a Prime Minister Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM-MITRA) park to Bihar in a letter. Singh pointed out that while the central government's recent announcement under the PM-MITRA scheme includes the establishment of parks in seven states, Bihar has been left out.
He emphasized Bihar, an industrially backward state with significant potential in the textile sector, had already identified 1,719 acres of land for the scheme and submitted a preliminary project report to the Ministry of Textiles ahead of the March 15, 2022, deadline.
Singh highlighted that states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka already host well-developed textile industries, whereas Bihar lacks modern textile clusters. He stressed that setting up a PM-MITRA park in Bihar would create local employment opportunities, reducing the need for migration. By developing such a project, Singh believes Bihar could address its industrial gaps while offering a sustainable future for workers, preventing large-scale migration in search of employment.
