Roica & Tencel partner for sustainable textiles

The textile industry is taking a big step towards a circular economy thanks to a new partnership between Roica by Asahi Kasei and Tencel by Lenzing AG. These leading companies in sustainable fibers have joined forces to create a new generation of fabrics that are both high-performing and eco-friendly.

Roica V550, a key part of this collaboration, is the world's first degradable stretch yarn. This innovative material partially breaks down at the end of its life, unlike conventional elastane which does not degrade. Additionally, Roica V550 is Cradle to Cradle-Certified and carries a Material Health Gold Level Certificate.

Tencel fibers are made from wood from controlled sources and are biodegradable in water and soil. This natural origin reduces the environmental impact of production and ensures a more sustainable end-of-life cycle for garments.

This partnership sets new standards for sustainability in textiles. It represents a significant advancement in textile technology and demonstrates the companies' commitment to a circular economy.

The collaboration extends beyond fiber development. A series of roadshows will be held with leading fabric producers to introduce ready-made solutions for various clothing applications. Brugnoli, a participant in Performance Days, is already showcasing a new YogaTime line made with these innovative yarns.

Brugnoli's YogaTime collection exemplifies the potential of this collaboration. The line features three articles that utilize both Roica V550 and Tencel Modal with Micro technology. These fabrics offer exceptional comfort, moisture management, and degradability, all while maintaining a luxurious feel.

This collaboration is a significant step towards a more sustainable future for the fashion industry. It demonstrates the power of partnership in driving innovation and creating garments that are both stylish and eco-conscious.
