Schneider Group unveils world’s first Superfine Argentinian Vicuna bale, setting record for luxury yarn

After 18 years of meticulous research, Schneider Group has unveiled the world’s first bale of Superfine Argentinian Vicuna hailed as the ‘Fiber of the Gods’ and now the finest vicuna yarn ever produced. With an extraordinary fineness of just 11.7 microns and a length of 29.3 millimetres, this record-setting fibre redefines luxury, surpassing traditional vicuna standards of 12-13 microns.
Known for its unmatched softness, lightness, and warmth, Vicuna fibre was once reserved for Incan royalty. Schneider’s achievement not only delivers a sensorial masterpiece for luxury connoisseurs but also marks a milestone in sustainable and ethical fibre production.
The group’s commitment helped increase the vicuna population in Argentina’s managed areas from fewer than 800 to over 5,000. In collaboration with local communities, Schneider introduced sustainable herd management practices and donated fibre to support regional artisans.
This exceptional yarn is the result of expert craftsmanship and years of manual fibre selection using precision tools. “Each fibre reflects time, passion and a vision for responsible excellence,” the company said. With this bale, Schneider has not only made history but set a new standard for ethical innovation in the fine fibre industry.
