Siemens partners Spinnova to revolutionize sustainable fiber production

Siemens has joined forces with Spinnova, a Finnish innovator in sustainable textile technology, to transform global fiber production while minimizing environmental impact. This partnership leverages Siemens’ digitalization and automation expertise to scale Spinnova’s patented fiber-making process, which mimics spider web weaving and uses raw materials like wood, textiles, and agricultural waste.
The Spinnova fiber offers an eco-friendly alternative to traditional fibers, achieving 74 per cent lower carbon dioxide emissions, 98 per cent less water consumption, zero waste, and no harmful chemicals. With Siemens Xcelerator technologies, including digital twins and integrated automation, Spinnova has enhanced efficiency, increased time to market, and optimized production at its Woodspin factory in Finland, a joint venture with Suzano.
Siemens’ tools like Tecnomatix Plant Simulation and Opcenter software have enabled precise digital modeling and rapid scalability, aligning with its commitment to sustainability. Together, Siemens and Spinnova are setting new benchmarks for sustainable innovation in textiles, driving progress toward a greener and more circular global manufacturing ecosystem.
