The Central Silk Board (CSB) successfully hosted Silktech 2025, an international conference on emerging technologies in the silk sector, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, during Bharat Tex 2025. Union Minister of State for Textiles & Foreign Affairs Pabitra Margherita inaugurated the event alongside Neelam Shami Rao, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles.

Organized by CSB’s Central Tasar Research & Training Institute, Ranchi, and Central Silk Technological Research Institute (CSTRI), the conference focused on innovations to enhance sustainability and competitiveness in silk production. Margherita emphasized the significance of muga and eri silks from Northeast India and highlighted zero-waste technologies in the silk value chain. He reiterated the Prime Minister’s vision to triple textile production and exports through quality research and global collaborations.

A key highlight was the signing of six MoUs between CSB’s R&D institutes and research organizations to foster innovation. The event also saw the launch of two publications one on emerging silk technologies and another on technical advancements.

Discussions covered silk’s applications in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, sustainable innovations, and global market trends, reinforcing India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision for self-sufficiency in silk production.
