Sportking India, ATGC enhance cotton production
Indian textile leader Sportking India joins forces with ATGC Biotech to launch the ‘San-Vardhan’ initiative, aiming to significantly increase cotton production. This project targets Pink Bollworm (PBW), a major pest plaguing cotton crops.
ATGC Biotech's innovative CREMIT (Controlled Release Enhanced Mating Interruption Technology) serves as the initiative's core weapon. This eco-friendly solution disrupts PBW reproduction, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional insecticides.
Currently implemented across 2,000 acres in Punjab and Haryana, San-Vardhan holds promise for North Indian cotton farmers. Munish Avasthi, Sportking India's managing director, emphasizes the importance of supporting the entire cotton value chain, from farmers to fabric producers. He highlights their commitment to addressing PBW through the San-Vardhan project.

Baljinder Saini, representing the initiative's implementing partner Reviving Green Revolution Cell, welcomes the textile industry's involvement. He expresses hope for similar projects to emerge in cotton-growing regions of Central and South India.
This collaboration between Sportking India and ATGC Biotech offers a promising solution for Indian cotton farmers, paving the way for a more sustainable and productive future.
