Sweden’s SYRE to invest $1 billion in Vietnam for green textile recycling complex

Vietnam’s PM Phạm Minh Chính has urged Swedish textile recycling group SYRE to invest in Vietnam’s green textile sector, during a meeting with SYRE chair Susanna Campbell and Swedish ambassador Johan Ndisi. The PM welcomed their visit and called on SYRE to use surplus local textile waste for sustainable production, stressing the importance of clean energy and eco-friendly materials.
Chính highlighted Bình Định as a strategic investment location due to its strong infrastructure, including an international airport and deep-water seaport. He reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to sustainable development, targeting 8 per cent economic growth in 2025 and aiming for double-digit growth. The country is actively pursuing international cooperation in capital, human resources, and technology.
Campbell confirmed SYRE's plan to invest $1 billion to build a polyester fabric recycling complex in Bình Định, aiming to transform Vietnam into the world’s first high-tech circular textile hub aligned with EU and US standards. She emphasized Vietnam’s strategic value amid the global green transition.
Ambassador Ndisi welcomed the partnership, reinforcing Sweden’s support for Vietnam’s green goals and its growing appeal to Swedish investors seeking long-term, sustainable opportunities.
