Tamil Nadu approves eight new mini textile parks in Karur

The Tamil Nadu government has approved eight new mini textile park proposals in Karur district under the Tamil Nadu Mini Textile Park Scheme, Electricity Minister V Senthilbalaji announced.
Speaking at the inauguration of a mini textile park in Kullampatti, alongside Minister for Textiles and Handlooms R Gandhi, Senthilbalaji highlighted the government's support for entrepreneurs. The newly opened park, developed by three entrepreneurs, was built at a cost of Rs 5.9 crore. The government has pledged Rs 2.2 crore in grants, of which Rs 1.32 crore has already been released.
Karur district had submitted 10 new proposals, and with eight already approved, construction is underway. Under the scheme, the government covers 50 percent of expenses for infrastructure, common facilities, and factory buildings, with a maximum grant of Rs 2.5 crore per park.
Additionally, the ministers inaugurated a common facility centre in Velusamypuram to support handloom weavers. Built on a 2,430-sq. ft site, the centre was established at a cost of Rs 45.89 lakh. The initiatives aim to strengthen Karur’s textile sector, boost entrepreneurship, and improve infrastructure for weavers and manufacturers.
