Tamil Nadu to set up fourth mini textile park in Jayankondam in three months

A new mini textile park in Jayankondam, Tamil Nadu, will begin operations within the next three months. This initiative, aims to establish 10 such parks across the state in 2023-24.
The park will house 50 power looms and 50 handlooms, providing employment opportunities for local weavers. The Tamil Nadu government will renovate an existing building and construct a new one to accommodate the textile units.
Weavers working at the park are expected to earn daily wages between Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,200. The government will facilitate the sale of products through its Co-optex outlets and share a portion of the profits with the weavers.
The minister for handlooms and textiles, R Gandhi, visited the park site and assured that the project would be completed on time. He also inspected a non-functional TANSPIN (Tamil Nadu Spinning Mills Corporation) unit, which will be renovated and integrated into the park.
