FibreTrace, a company offering real-time verification of fiber origin, joins forces with retail giant Target and agricultural heavyweight Cargill to track cotton throughout the supply chain. Their innovative technique involves embedding special pigments into raw cotton during processing. This unique signature allows them to identify and follow the cotton fibers as they travel from the gin to the final product.

Target, aiming for more transparency in its clothing and homeware lines, will leverage FibreTrace's technology to verify the source of its cotton in real-time. This partnership is expected to track 50,000 metric tons of US and Brazilian cotton in the first year alone.

FibreTrace highlights this collaboration as a significant milestone. It paves the way for brands to guarantee the authenticity of their U.S. and Brazilian cotton claims, ultimately fostering trust with consumers.

The initiative aligns with Target's sustainability goals, allowing them to pinpoint the exact origin of their cotton. Cargill, acting as the supply chain partner, will integrate FibreTrace's technology into their ginning process and ensure the delivery of specific cotton to Target.

This three-way partnership is a major step forward for the cotton industry, promoting transparency and building consumer confidence in the origin of their cotton clothing and home goods.
