The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (Texprocil) showcased Indian government’s Kasturi Cotton initiative at the New York Home Fashions Market, highlighting its growing brand power and traceability features. Launched in October 2023 on World Cotton Day, Kasturi Cotton is designed to promote India's premium home-grown cotton with a blockchain platform ensuring authenticity from farm to product.

Key adopters include: Trident Group, Indo Count, Arvind, and Vardhman. Texprocil revealed expansion plans for extra-long staple (ELS) cotton varieties, beyond the current 29-30 mm staple lengths, targeting luxury product markets. The initiative also focuses on sustainability, partnering with Indian Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) to improve farming practices and collaborating with the Better Cotton Initiative, Regenagri Cotton, and Organic Cotton to broaden its sustainable offerings.

As the brand approaches its first anniversary, Texprocil emphasizes continued innovation in both quality and traceability, aiming to meet evolving global supply chain regulations. This comprehensive approach is expected to elevate the standards of Indian textiles and apparel, enhancing the quality and sustainability of the final products.
