Textile exporters in Panipat eye growth as Heimtextil 2025 spurs global demand

Panipat, famously known as the ‘Textile City,’ is witnessing renewed optimism among its exporters as Heimtextil-2025, the world’s largest textile fair, held in Frankfurt, Germany, garners robust international buyer interest. The city’s textile industry, which boasts an annual turnover of Rs 45,000 crore and exports worth Rs 15,000 crore, is renowned for its handloom products, blankets, bed sheets, and floor coverings. These goods are in demand across Europe, the USA, Japan, and Australia.

This year, 150 exporters from Panipat are participating in the fair, with the Indian pavilion being the largest at the event. According to Lalit Goyal, chairman of the Handloom Export Product Council (HEPC) and president of the Panipat Exports Association, the pavilion has attracted significantly more interest compared to the previous two years.

Union Minister for Textiles Giriraj Singh inaugurated the pavilion, encouraging global investors to collaborate with Indian exporters. The concurrent hosting of Heimtextil and Domotex fairs in Frankfurt has increased buyer turnout.

Raman Chhabra, President, Young Exporters’ Society, highlighted increased interest from US buyers, calling the response ‘very positive.’ Exporters are optimistic that the heightened engagement will translate into substantial overseas orders, paving the way for greater growth in the next financial year.
