Turkey’s yarn exports rise, Pakistan increased 210%

Turkey’s textile and raw materials exports increased by 5 per cent in January 2025, reaching $986 million, according to the Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters Association (ITHIB). Apparel exports, however, declined by 1 per cent to $1.2 billion. Overall, Turkey’s exports rose 6 per cent to $21.2 billion, with textiles contributing 5 per cent and reaching 10.5 per cent when including ready-to-wear exports.
Pakistan and Egypt showed exceptional growth. Turkish textile exports to Pakistan increased 94 per cent, while exports to Egypt increased by 73.5 per cent. The European Union remained the top market, followed by Africa and Asia. Italy, Germany, and the US were the top export destinations, while exports to the UK declined by 4 per cent.
On a quantity basis, Pakistan led with a 108 per cent increase, followed by China at 102 per cent. Yarn exports stood out with $203 million in sales, led by Egypt, Italy, and Portugal. Pakistan recorded a remarkable 210 per cent rise in yarn imports. Technical textile exports totalled $193 million, with Morocco posting a 50 per cent increase. Woven fabric exports reached $190 million, with Egypt showing a 98 per cent jump. The Turkish textile sector started 2025 with strong growth in key markets despite some declines in Europe.
