Greensboro, North Carolina-based Unifi has introduced Fortisyn, a high-performance abrasion-resistant yarn engineered for demanding tactical applications. Designed to deliver superior tear and tensile strength, Fortisyn enhances the durability of fabrics used in military uniforms, first responder apparel, and rugged outdoor gear.

Made in the US, Fortisyn supports Berry Amendment-compliant sourcing and is available in both nylon 6.6 and Repreve nylon, a recycled Type 6 circular fibre produced from post-industrial yarn waste. The yarn is solution-dyed to boost colorfastness and weather resistance, ensuring long-lasting performance even under extreme environmental and physical stress.

Fortisyn made with Repreve nylon is fully traceable through Unifi’s FiberPrint technology and certified under U-Trust, Oeko-Tex, GRS (Global Recycled Standard), and SCS (Scientific Certification Systems) for recycled content. Eddie Ingle, CEO of Unifi, stated that Fortisyn has undergone rigorous fabric testing in collaboration with mills and strategic partners to confirm its exceptional performance. He emphasized that this launch marks a significant advancement in scaling recycled, circular technology yarns for use in the most demanding applications.

Unifi’s innovation with Fortisyn highlights the growing intersection of sustainability and performance in technical textiles, offering a robust solution for sectors requiring high durability without compromising environmental responsibility.
