As Jeff Lindsey nears the end of his tenure as President of the Southern Cotton Ginners Association (SCGA), he acknowledges the complexities of leading a multi-state organization. Representing Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Louisiana, and Tennessee, SCGA plays a crucial role in industry decision-making, legislative discussions, and research collaboration.

Lindsey, who also manages McCord Gin Company in Missouri, stressed the importance of teamwork in strengthening the cotton industry. He pointed to ongoing challenges, including labor shortages and fluctuations in the cottonseed market. To address workforce gaps, he emphasized the need for more trade school-trained workers with expertise in electrical, mechanical, and maintenance skills.

SCGA’s 2025 summer and district meetings were highly informative, covering topics from cottonseed quality to new technology. Lindsey also praised SCGA Executive Director Tim Price and his team for their behind-the-scenes efforts, including organizing the Mid-South Farm and Gin Show.

Allen Espy will succeed Lindsey as SCGA president. Lindsey expressed confidence in the association’s continued success, noting the strong collaboration between industry groups. The SCGA’s annual meeting will be held on Feb 27 at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, ahead of the Mid-South Farm and Gin Show from Feb 28 to March 1.
