Uttar Pradesh’s textile industry is witnessing rapid growth, with a strong focus on yarn production and weaving. The sector supports 1.91 lakh handloom weavers and over 80,000 families, while 5.50 lakh weavers operate 2.58 lakh powerlooms, driving yarn demand across the state.

The UP government has allocated Rs 300 crore under the PM Mitra Yojana for modern textile parks. These parks will integrate advanced technology, streamline yarn production, and lower costs, enhancing the sector’s competitiveness. Additionally, the Uttar Pradesh Textile-Garmenting Policy 2022 aims to transform the state into a major apparel and yarn manufacturing hub, with Rs 150 crore set aside for its implementation in 2025-26.

Addressing powerloom weavers challenges, the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Powerloom Vidyut Flat Rate Scheme, with a Rs 400 crore budget, will ensure subsidised electricity, reducing yarn production costs and increasing profitability. These strategic measures aim to strengthen the state’s yarn ecosystem, attract investment, and create employment.

With modern infrastructure, cost-effective production, and supportive policies, Uttar Pradesh is positioning itself as a key player in India’s yarn and textile sector, ensuring sustained growth and global competitiveness.
