Uttar Pradesh to get 10 new textile parks, Rs 8,000 crore investment expected
Uttar Pradesh is set to establish 10 new textile parks across Kanpur, Barabanki, Hapur, Mau, Bhadohi, Sant Kabir Nagar, Gorakhpur, Ghaziabad, Meerut, and Hardoi. Developed by private companies, these parks aim to reduce dependence on imported raw materials.
To support the initiative, the state government has allocated Rs 1 crore under the Chief Minister Textile Apparel Park Scheme. According to Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary of the MSME Department, each park will cater to the specific needs of local textile industries, such as hosiery in Kanpur, carpets in Bhadohi, fabric in Mau, and poly fibre in Barabanki.
The parks will include essential infrastructure like exhibition halls, dyeing and printing centres, banking facilities, ATMs, rest houses, and waste management systems. Around 1,000 textile units are expected to be set up, attracting an investment of Rs 8,000 crore and generating 40,000 jobs.
The government had previously introduced a scheme to develop textile parks on private plots, offering subsidies of up to Rs 25 crore. Under this initiative, a textile park in Shamli is nearing completion. The new parks are expected to further boost UP’s textile sector and employment.
