Uzbekistan, China deepen textile ties with new cooperation deal

A delegation from the UzTextile Industry Association visited the People’s Republic of China to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the textile sector. Uzbek officials held a meeting with the Chairman of the China Cotton and Yarn Exchange, focusing on expanding joint initiatives across the cotton and textile value chain.

They signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement aimed at enhancing collaboration between the two countries. Central to the agreement is the introduction of a joint monitoring mechanism to oversee the full textile production cycle in Uzbekistan from cotton cultivation to yarn and fabric manufacturing. This mechanism will incorporate Chinese technical expertise and best practices to boost efficiency and quality standards within Uzbekistan’s textile sector.

The agreement also paves the way for the creation of a centralized sales platform to streamline trade and market access between Uzbekistan and China. This platform is expected to support Uzbek textile manufacturers in expanding their reach in the Chinese market while enabling Chinese buyers to access high-quality Uzbek cotton and yarn more efficiently.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to advancing innovation, transparency, and sustainability in the textile industry, marking a significant step forward in regional textile cooperation and economic integration. More detailed frameworks are expected to emerge from upcoming joint working group meetings.
