Welspun Living eyes growth despite US tariff concerns

Welspun Living’s MD & CEO Dipali Goenka dismissed concerns over potential US tariffs, affirming India’s strong position in the global textile industry. She highlighted India’s stable democracy, skilled workforce, and robust cotton supply chain as key advantages.
Speaking at Bharat Tex 2025, Goenka stressed the importance of upskilling workers to increase productivity, drawing parallels with China. India’s youth, if properly trained, could transform the country into a global textile powerhouse.
India, the world’s sixth-largest textile and apparel exporter, aims to reach $100 billion in exports by 2030. Goenka acknowledged the government’s efforts but noted the need for further support, especially for MSMEs. She pointed to growing investments in bath, towel, and sheet categories, which are driving sectoral expansion.
Welspun Living, a major home textiles player, is also focusing on sustainability and circularity. The company is actively innovating to meet evolving global demands while expanding its domestic footprint. Looking ahead, Goenka sees India’s textile industry poised for strong growth, leveraging its raw material strengths and increasing global demand for sustainable products.
