India imported cotton worth $33.5 million from Australia from January to May 2025, becoming the fifth largest market for Australian cotton in that timeframe. Even though the Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) between the two nations provides duty-free quotas for cotton imports, Australia’s share in the Indian cotton market remains relatively modest.

Leading textile manufacturer, Dodhia Synthetics has partnered a prominent Indian solar energy provider, Orb Energy to install a 600kWp rooftop solar system at their manufacturing facility, a move that would deliver both environmental benefits and substantial economic gains. The solar setup is projected to generate over 800,000 units of clean electricity annually, effectively offsetting more than 750 tons of CO2 emissions each year. Beyond its positive environmental impact, the system is expected to yield significant cost savings of over Rs 60 lakh annually, with a payback period of just three years, highlighting its strong financial viability.
