The next edition of India’s largest global textile trade fair-Bharat Tex 2026 will be held across two venues in New Delhi: Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan and India International Convention and Expo Center at Yashobhumi/India Expo Mart. The event is scheduled from February 24-27, 2026.

Workers at Morarji Textiles in Nagpur are protesting against the non-payment of wages for the last three to four months. Facing financial desperation, approximately 1,000 workers marched towards the state chief minister's official residence recently.

Growing at a CAGR of 17.20 per cent from 2025-32, the global market for bio-based textile fibers is projected to touch $12.5 million by 2033 from $4.7 billion in 2025. As per HTF Market Intelligence, by 2025, bio-based fibers will see higher adoption across sectors, including fashion, home furnishings, and technical textiles, driven by intensifying demand for sustainability. These fibers offer comparable durability, comfort, and aesthetics to traditional materials while actively supporting circular economy practices.

The value of the global textile fiber market is projected to rise from $48.3 billion in 2024 to $70.8 billion by 2034. A report by Allied Market Research reveals, the market will experience a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4 per cent over this period.

Major trade bodies including CITI and SGCCI, The Northern India Textile Mills’ Association (NITMA) met officials from the Ministry of Textiles and Chemicals to register their opposition against the recommended anti-dumping duty (ADD) on Mono Ehtylene Glycol (MEG), warning the government it would deliver a ‘castatrophic blow to the sector.  NITMA cautioned the duty would devastate the predominantly MSME-based downstream industry, jeopardizing millions of jobs and freezing critical investments.

To ease the financial burden from disruptions faced by India’s textile and apparel exporters on account of the 50 per cent tariffs levied by the US on their goods, Confederation of Indian Industry (CITI) is urging the government to take immediate action to protect jobs, support exporters, and restore the textile industry's global competitive edge. The organization stated it will continue to work with policymakers and stakeholders to push for targeted relief.

India’s 2025-26 cotton season has officially launched, and the market is preparing for an increase in new crop arrivals. Cotton arrivals are expected to increase around the festivals, with daily volumes potentially hitting 30,000 to 35,000 bales (170 kg each).

Prices of polyester and viscose yarns in key centers like Ludhiana, Surat, and Mumbai remained steady despite softening of prices of virgin polyester staple fiber. The prices were supported by a moderate domestic demand as the country prepared for the upcoming wedding season.
